INFORMATION ON FAMILY LAW

Website of the Office of the Attorney General
http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/family/
This site has a great deal of excellent information about resources and about the law in Canada and Ontario from the most reliable source you can find: the government.

See also the brochures at http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/family/familyla.pdf on What You Should Know about Family Law in Ontario.

See also the Family Law Information Centres listed there. These centres are excellent resources for those who are divorcing with printed material and staff who can speak with you.

MEDIATION

Information from the Ministry of the Attorney General on understanding mediation services, for help in resolving disputes in a non-adversarial manner.
http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/family/mediation.asp

See the government Family Law Information Centres described at http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/family/infoctr.asp

The locations of these centres in Ontario are listed at http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/family/infoctr_locations.asp

REFERRAL TO A LAWYER

You may wish to ask your lawyer who has handled other matters for you if he/she is experienced in family law matters or can suggest a lawyer who is. Friends and family members may have used a family law lawyer who they recommend.

The Law Society of Upper Canada which represents all lawyers in Ontario has a Lawyer Referral Service described online at
http://www.lsuc.on.ca/public/a/faqs---lawyer-referral-service/

If you would like some recommendations from me please contact me.
