My professional degrees and certifications are as follows:
- Master of Social Work 1970 from the University of Toronto
- Registered Social Worker through the Ontario College
of Social Work and Social Workers since 1982
- Registered Marriage and Family Therapist with the Registry
of Marriage and Family Therapists in Canada (in connection with
the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the
American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) since 1986
- International Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor
through the Canadian Addiction Counselors Certification Board
since 1988
My work background is quite broad. Before embarking on
a private practice, I worked in a variety of agency settings. These
included adult psychiatry, general family and individual counseling,
child welfare and employee assistance. This work involved extensive
supervised practice and dealt with the issues of diverse clients
from many ethnic and socio-economic groups.
Some of my certifications require ongoing professional development.
To that end, I regularly attend training that keeps me up to date
with developments in the counseling field. In addition I am a member
of a peer consultation group that meets regularly for consultation
and professional development.
Referrals generally come to me from individuals directly,
previous clients, family physicians, psychiatrists, lawyers, professional
colleagues, employee assistance programs, and addiction settings.
