Psychotherapy, Couples Counselling, Family Therapy and Sex Therapy
Confidentiality
At Hicks Counselling Services we respect and guard the confidentiality of each client. Professional code of ethics of social workers and marriage and family therapists prevents the sharing of clients’ information and records without their written consent. Limits to confidentiality do exist when there is a need to prevent a clear and immediate danger to a person or when mandated by law. Therapists are required by law to report abuse and suspected abuse of children.
Making An Appointment
You may call anytime to schedule an appointment. If you do not reach someone directly at 416-822-9659, please feel free to leave a confidential message. We will return your call within one business day. First appointments may be scheduled within 2 business days.
Structure of Therapy
After a brief telephone conversation, clients attend for an initial assessment interview. Our first meeting will be spent gathering background information, discussing therapeutic options and if appropriate developing goals and setting up a treatment schedule. Initial sessions are 1 ½ to 2 hours. After the first meeting, clients generally attend weekly for one-hour sessions. As therapy progresses the frequency of sessions may be adjusted as needed. Couples tend to prefer 90-minute sessions.
Fees for Services
Psychological fees and registered social worker fees for therapy services are covered by most extended health insurance plans. Fees are payable at the end of each session and receipts for services are submitted by you to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We accept cheques, cash or money orders.
Cancellation Policy
Once a session is booked, that time is reserved for you. In the event that you must cancel, we will do our best to fill up your time and will not charge you for it. If the session is not filled, you will be expected to pay the session fee. |
